Well, you may well ask, but there are many reasons for the heart of Red Bird Tutoring to be in the heart of Central Bedfordshire.

Border of Beds and Herts

Dunstable is nestled on the border of Central Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, making it a great place to be located.  We are easily accessible via the M1, A5 and A421 to Milton Keynes, Ampthill, Leighton Buzzard and Luton making us a great location in Bedfordshire.  We’re also within 30 minutes of Hertfordshire towns such as Hemel Hempstead and St Albans.

Last place Sally and Sue taught

The two founders of Red Bird Tutoring, Sue and Sally Michaels taught in several Dunstable schools before they left the classroom, branched out into the big wide world and founded our special business. We also lived there at the time and so it made perfect sense to start in Dunstable and we hire the school that Sally last taught at, Ashton St Peter’s Primary School.

Fabulous support from friends and teachers

Our first tutors were all local to Dunstable and teachers from the area still come every week to work with Dunstable’s young adults.  We have had a visit from the Mayor and several local headteachers have been amazed at how productive and purposeful our sessions are. Our first students were children of our friends and colleagues and we will be ever grateful for their trust in us from the beginning.

Hub of 4 secondary schools and many Primaries

Dunstable has four great secondary schools, Priory Academy, Queensbury Academy, Manshead Academy and All Saints Academy and we have a great working relationship with them. There are also over a dozen Primary or Lower Schools in Dunstable alone making it a hive for young minds to flourish!

The Dunstable Centre goes from strength to strength and we are now seeing siblings coming through and even students who some of us taught as small children, now taking their GCSEs! I love to catch up with former students to see how they are getting on and see just how much we impacted the students in their studies and beyond.

If you would like to know more about the Saturday Centre and how we can support your family, please get in touch – we’d love to help.
