It’s that time of year when often broach the subject of tutoring and get the response “I’ll be fine” or words to that effect. You get that uneasy feeling in your stomach, but want to believe it’s true (they are a young adult of course) and you quietly cross your fingers and wait for the mock exams. Months pass and then the dreaded moment when your teen comes home, overwhelmed and tearful, panicking because they are, after all, not on target to get the grade they need…
I can’t tell you how many times I have heard this. You are then in reactive mode, trying desperately to find support as time slips away and mental health takes a tumble.
Ok, you get the picture. If this sounds like your house, then it might be worth a call to the school to check what the actual situation is. Or of course, you could get in touch with us. We’d be happy to advise you on the best course of action. You’re not tied into a minimum time with us, so you could start and then stop if you feel that we’re not needed, or they were right after all!
One thing is for sure, you can’t turn back the clock and those retakes can be soul-destroying.
So if you want the best chance to pass first time, check in with the school, give me a bell or let’s get down to tutoring!
