Sometimes, when everything in your life seems to be geared towards your GCSEs or A-Levels, once they’re over, you can feel a bit lost.  Some students will know where they are going next, and some will need to wait and see.

So what to do in the meantime? Here’s some ideas!

 Get a job

This summer is a great opportunity to do some work for a few weeks.  Rather than just a day a week, this will give you an insight into what working a full week looks like and a bonus is the monetary rewards that go with it 🙂

Volunteer

Again, this is a great way to find out what the working world looks like and volunteering can open a lot more possibilities than paid work.  It’s a nice way to spend some time doing something you love and not be tied to a contract.

Travel

This is one of the longest breaks that you will have for a while and so getting out and seeing the world when you are young enough to sleep cheaply and live on bread and jam for a few weeks is great! Memory making and a fab way to get some independence and see how other people live their lives.

Get some skills

Doing some skill based work such as DofE, volunteering in the uniformed organisations such as scouts, guides or cadets or community work here or abroad can be really rewarding and a great investment for your future self.  Employers and further education establishments look favourably on these experiences and they are massively character building too.

Rest!

If the exam season has taken its toll on your mental, emotional and physical levels, then make sure you rest and recharge before heading into your next chapter.

If you are heading back into education, here’s some tips to balance your summer. But, whatever you do, enjoy yourself and have a great summer!!
