At Red Bird, we have provided Summer Booster sessions from the very first year. Our intention was to provide a touch of learning in the long summer holidays, but there is so much more to our Booster sessions…
Something in the holidays
The Summer holidays are loooooong (although never as long as they felt as a child I find). However, whether 5 and a bit weeks or 12 weeks, it’s long enough to get out of all sorts of habits. There definitely needs to be a balance. Having a booster mid summer holidays is a good way to keep a toe in the academic water. It also can give some structure to the ever merging days.
Transition support
Hopefully, there will have been some transition support already from the school. But we can also provide confidence and coaching support for a child who is nervous about a transition. That might be something major like changing schools, or it could be simply changing Key Stages or to a new teacher. We can provide that support alongside an academic subject, or simply a standalone coaching support.
A chance to fast track a subject
Alternatively, we could get your child really confident in a subject, because we’re all teachers. That might be getting ahead of the game with the next year’s subject requirements, or going over the previous year’s work so that they start off on a sure footing. Previous students have gone into their next school actually liking a subject that they previously found challenging.
A champion on your side
Having a coach in your corner is like having one of those friends who is always on your side, making positive comments and celebrating your wins. That’s part of what we do in the boosters. It’s basically every type of boost rolled up in one – an academic boost and a confidence boost! There’s nothing like someone always having your back without wanting anything in return.
Whatever the reason, a Summer Booster is a positive, confidence building tool to get your child absolutely ready for and putting their best foot forward in September.
